Did you know…
According to the Strategic Training Initiative for the Prevention of Eating Disorders (STRIPED), 9% or 28.8 million Americans will experience an eating disorder during their lifetime. Every year, 10,200 individuals die as a result of an eating disorder.
Eating Disorder affects all ages, races/ethnicities, body shapes and weights, socioeconomic statuses, genders, and sexual orientations. However, misconceptions about the individuals who experience eating disorders often result in a lack of proper treatment and care for those who are marginalized.
Despite these statistics, there is hope.
There is no shame in seeking help for an eating disorder, especially if you don’t fit the stereotype.
